A "Normal" Day

I did not take one picture today. This may be a first for the whole trip. We went to Aransas Pass this morning so I could go to the library and Bob could do some shopping chores and get an oil change. It's the only Walmart in the area that has the facilities big enough to do the dually with the kayak on top. We will take the kayak off eventually but so far just haven't had the ambition.

I'm always open to learning new things, especially with electronics...example, my blog and adding pictures. The difficult part is doing it with only 'google' type assistance. It's like the Perfect Storm, you have to have all the ingredients to be able to back up, sync, transfer pictures, etc. I have iCloud, iPad, iPhone, not a Mac but a PC and to ensure I keep all my pictures, blogs, and music safe they have to be backed up. Even my Genealogy sites, which, by the way, I haven't touched since leaving home.

To be able to do all these things requires wifi. The only place you can have wifi for any length of time is a local library and the time to work through all the processes. I started out with a two hour window while Bob did his stuff. Nothing was working. Turns out I didn't have the latest iTunes update on my PC. That took an hour to discover. I reinstalled iTunes which is always a scary thing for me because I don't really know what will happen when I hit go or install, or whatever.....and I am under a time pressure to boot.

Bob returns, his jobs all accomplished. By this time I am halfway through the back up between my mini and my PC and I am not stopping now. He leaves again with another hour to scout around town. A Library lady tells me I can't use this station anymore cos someone might need the computer, I almost bark at her but politely tell her the gentleman earlier told me I could use this station. I am wringing my hands now, it's getting busier and louder, (don't people know about the "shush factor" in a library anymore) ..as I watch the back up time move slowly to the end, not telling me how much time it still needs. Finally after 2 1/2 hours my mini and all it's precious data is backed up. I'm still not sure of the process but I feel somewhat relieved, despite the fact that now at least 3000 of my pictures have been duplicated. I don't care! At least I know they are safe and I can delete at my leisure.

We return home, which is about 10 miles away for another turkey sandwich lunch, a little puttering, showers and an evening to watch Monday night football......New Orleans Saints ( Who Dat? ) vs Seattle Seahawks. It's hard not to be drawn into football down here whether it's college or professional .....it is a passion and Hockey is not available very often.....
